Product Information

The Low Air Table is an
affordable side table designed by Jasper Morrison for Magis. It’s stylish and
functional. Not only is it lightweight, stackable and suitable for outdoor use
but it is also a great partner with the other Air family products. Take a look
at the other products of the Jas^per Morrison Magis Air Family.

Magis is the brand that
since its start in 1976 has given a novel twist to domestic design. The company
makes design furniture from both traditional materials and plastic. Depending
on the application, plastic is often the best solution. The main advantage is
the immense cutback on production processes. Good design combined with the use
of high-tech machines, allows for the production of a ready to use product in
one single production step. Magis teams up with various well-known designers,
but also provides beginning designers with chances to launch their careers.

Resources

The table is manufactured out of one single piece of polypropylene and is reinforced with short glass fibres. It’s possible to recycle it completely.

The interesting things about this design is that the legs are hollow. During production compressed air is blown into the frame to ensure the material is only there were absolutely needed. This translates into a huge material cutback.

The table is made in a single production step: injection moulding. No components are assembled, sawn or processed. This means cutting back in time and energy to manufacture this type of chair.

Polypropylene is known for its limited ‘wear and tear’. Combined with the glass fibre, a very durable product emerges.

The material is easy to grind and can be re-used to mould another product.
